Think Like Boss

Think like a boss. I’ve heard this so much recently. What does it even mean? I’m already a boss, I run my house; I look after my kids; and I have a decent management job. I am a boss!

Thinking like a boss means so much more than giving direction and designating projects to co-workers. Having positivity, organisation, planning, focus, and confidence.

Seeing a vision for yourself and executing a plan to get there is thinking like a boss.

What steps should you take to reach your milestones? This is where planning comes in. The most difficult recipe in this book is probably one of my favourites. The Chocolate Souffle. It’s a delicious show-stopping dish that can make your heart sing and your friends & family happy. But the key to making this work out well is not only weighing out your ingredients correctly but going in with the right mindset, telling yourself it will be awesome. Check you have all the right equipment and ingredients and be confident you can do it. In other words, think like a boss.

Are you competitive?

I love playing little games with myself when I’m in the kitchen. I’m usually on some cookery show on TV with my family looking on. I’m sweating, and nervous, but confident I will win the competition. I can see myself presenting the most exquisite-looking dish, then the judges taste it. It’s perfect. I get top marks. Then I see myself being congratulated by the other contestants.
My family is going crazy, and finally, I lift the coveted trophy. This might sound a bit much, but the vision is all positive. I’m a winner, I’m confident, my support team is with me and I’m persistent enough to know I must keep going to get that result. I can see it; I can feel it.

Thinking like a boss should allow you to broaden your thoughts and aspirations and you should be able to fly. Try something new, a new recipe, perhaps. Find the dish that grabs you and lift your trophy.

Thinking like a boss takes you to another level, helps you define yourself, or propels you to be the person you want to be. When self-doubt creeps in it also brings you stress; that overwhelming feeling that takes you by the throat and threatens to choke everything you’ve worked hard on. Don’t let it. Think about your successes no matter how small. Feel the corners of your mouth rise until the pressure eases. Thinking like a boss is to know when to take a step back to do something you love. Something that gives you that feeling of being accomplished. It might be singing badly in the shower to your favourite shouty song, (no you’re not Mariah, but you sure feel like you’re performing on a stage right next to her and holding your own). Maybe you go for a power walk; it might only be 15 minutes but wow! It felt good. Take control and make time for your mind, body, and mental health.

Think like the boss you are. See the vision. Believe you can achieve and never give in to negative thoughts.
